GM Recalls – Important Notice
GM Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) Ltd has issued a safety recall that impacts some Silverado 1500 vehicles equipped with an L87 engine.
A small number of L87 engines may have manufacturing defects that may impact the operation of the connecting rod and/or crankshaft. These manufacturing defects could potentially lead to engine damage, and in some cases, engine failure.
If the engine has such a manufacturing defect, the driver may be alerted by the engine warning light appearing on the instrument cluster, or by engine hesitation, abnormal shifting, reduced propulsion or a failure to start. It is also possible that the engine could fail during vehicle operation, which would cause the vehicle to lose propulsion, which may increase the risk of a crash.
Please be assured that we will be in contact with affected owners as soon as possible when parts become available, and the engine inspection (and any necessary engine replacement) will be performed free of charge.
If you have any questions including whether your Silverado is covered by this recall, please don’t hesitate to call your GMSV Dealer or GMSV Customer Care
