GMSV Silverado 1500 and Silverado 2500 Sold on or after 1 October 2025.

Subject to your non-excludable statutory rights and the exclusions shown, the GMSV Warranty covers the correction of any manufacturing defect to materials or GMSV workmanship and advised to GMSV, Authorised Service Outlet, or an appropriately qualified repairer by repair or at GMSV’s option by replacement.

Coverage for the MY24+ Silverado 1500 and MY24+ Silverado 2500 commences from the date of first registration*.

In the case of a demonstrator vehicle, the warranty period starts from the date the vehicle was first placed into service by the Dealer (except in Western Australia where the warranty commencement date begins from the purchase date of the vehicle).

This coverage expires at the end of the period of 5 Years, regardless of distance travelled.

GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty and your rights under the Australian or New Zealand Consumer Law.

Under Australian and New Zealand law, when you buy products and services, they come with automatic guarantees that they will work and do what you asked for, under what is referred to as consumer guarantee rights. If something goes wrong with your new car, you may be entitled to a remedy under the consumer guarantees as well as the manufacturer’s warranty or any extended warranty you might have.
 
Consumer guarantees are your automatic rights under the Australian Consumer Law in Australia or the Consumer Guarantees Act in New Zealand that cannot be restricted or excluded.
 
Manufacturers and dealers must honour your consumer guarantee rights regardless of any commercial warranties they give to you or sell you. For example, your consumer guarantee rights may protect you if your car experiences a major failure after a warranty has expired.
  
You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.  

GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty Coverage 

Coverage

For any GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Sold on or after 1 October 2025, you are covered for 5 Years Warranty and Roadside Assistance. Coverage for the MY24+ Silverado 1500 and MY24+ Silverado 2500 commences from the date of first registration*.

Batteries and Bulbs

12-volt batteries are warranted until the earlier of 3 years after the date of first registration of the vehicle, or the vehicle having travelled 100,000km Keyless entry batteries (or other remote transmitter/receiver batteries) are warranted until the earlier of 12 months after the date of first registration. Any replacement of these items after the 12-month warranty period is considered maintenance and not covered under this Parts Warranty. 

Tyres

Tyres supplied with the vehicle are warranted until the earlier of 3 years or 100,000km after the date of first registration of the vehicle.

GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty Exclusions

Damage Due to Accident, Misuse, Alteration or Aftermarket Products

Your GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty does not cover damage caused by:

 

(1) Collision, fire, theft, vandalism, or moving objects striking the vehicle (including inside the vehicle) 
(2) Damage as a result of towing  
(3) Misuse or abuse of the vehicle such as driving over curbs, overloading, racing, or other competition. Proper vehicle use is discussed in the Owner’s Manual.  
(4) Operation of the vehicle after the defect is known.  
(5) Failure to carry out scheduled maintenance services and the use of incorrect types and grades of lubricants and fluids.  
(6) Alteration, modification, or tampering to the vehicle, including, but not limited to the body, chassis, driveline, software, or other components after final assembly by General Motors.  
(7) Coverages do not apply if the odometer has had its reading altered, or distance cannot be determined.  
(8) Fitting of parts or accessories not recommended by GMSV.  
(9) Water (including high-pressure and steam) or fluid contamination.
(10) Damage results from atmospheric fallout, hail, floods, windstorms, lightning, salt, and other environmental conditions 
(11) Alteration of glass parts by application on tinting films 
(12) Any work carried out on the vehicle:  

a. by anyone who is not qualified; 
b. That does not align with the GMSV’s specifications and instructions; or              
c. That does not use appropriate, and quality parts where required.

Important: This warranty is void on vehicles currently or previously titled as salvaged, scrapped, written-off or otherwise considered a total loss. 

Damage or Corrosion Due to Environment or Chemical treatments

Damage caused by airborne fallout, rail dust, salt from sea air, salt or other materials used to control road conditions, chemicals, tree sap, stones, hail, earthquake, water or flood, windstorm, lightning, the application of chemicals or sealants subsequent to manufacture, etc., is not covered.

Damage Due to Insufficient or Improper Maintenance

Your GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty does not extend to services such as brake adjustment, brake replacement, replacement of filters, wiper rubbers, maintaining proper fluids, or maintaining fluids between recommended intervals etc., which are required as part of normal vehicle maintenance. Refer to Maintenance Schedule.

Fuel additives, oil additives or coolant additives not marketed by GMSV are not recommended to be use and may indeed be harmful to your vehicle.  

Any negative impact or consequences due to the use of additives may affect the validity of your GMSV warranty.

Damage Due to Impact, Use or the Environment

Your GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty does not cover damage to windshield or glass cracks, chips, or scratches due to impact.

   


Lights, lenses, mirrors, paint, grille, mouldings, and trim are not covered for cracks, chips, scratches, dents, dings and punctures, or tears as a result of impact with other objects or road hazards. In addition, cracks, chips, scratches, or other damage to the face of a driver information display from impact or foreign objects are not covered. 

Damage Due to Contaminated, Improper, or Poor-Quality Fuel

Poor fuel quality or incorrect fuel may cause drivability problems, such as hesitation, lack of power, stalling, or failure to start. They may also degrade functionality of critical exhaust emissions components such as spark plugs, oxygen sensors, and the catalytic converter. Damage from poor fuel quality, incorrect fuel, water contamination, or if the vehicle requires premium fuel may not be covered. Please refer to your Owner’s Manual under “Fuel,” for additional recommendations.

Tyre and Wheel Damage or Wear

Normal tyre wear and tear or wear-out is not covered. Tyre wear is influenced by many variables such as road conditions, driving styles, vehicle weight, and tyre construction. Uniform tyre wear is a normal condition, and it not considered a defect. Road hazard damage such as punctures, cuts, snags, and breaks resulting from pothole impact, kerb impact, or from other objects is not covered. Tyre wear due to misalignment beyond the warranty period is not covered. Also, damage from improper mounting or dismounting, misuse, negligence, alteration, improper repair, accident, collision, fire, vandalism, or misapplication is not covered. Damage to sidewalls caused by automatic car washes or cleaning agents is not covered.

Damage Due to Bedliners

Owners of Silverado’s with a bedliner, whether after-market or factory installed, should expect that with normal operation the bedliner will move. This movement may cause finish damage. Therefore, any damage caused by the bedliner is not covered under the terms of the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. The factory spray in bedliner is not covered for a loss of shine and lustre or fading. Refer to the Owner’s Manual for more information on spray in bedliner maintenance.

Third Party Externally Connected Electrical Products

This warranty does not apply to hardware or software of a third-party device that is connected to the vehicle or its components. GMSV is not responsible for the quality or accuracy of any information, or service accessed through or from any third-party device or platform. GMSV is not responsible for any loss or damage to data or information made available in connection with the use of the vehicle.

AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT ALTERATIONS AND WARRANTIES

The GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty does not cover any damage or failure resulting from modifications, installations, or alterations to the vehicle by anyone not authorised by GMSV. 

Frequently Asked Questions

If I sell my car, does the new vehicle limited warranty transfer to the new owner?

Yes. If the limited warranty is still active, it will transfer to the new owner.

What should I do if my vehicle becomes unsafe or inoperative as a result of a defect which is covered by the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty?

We recommend contacting your nearest Authorised GMSV Dealer or GMSV Roadside Assistance as soon as possible and arrange for that Dealer to carry out the required GMSV Warranty service.

What should I do if, in an emergency, GMSV Warranty service is required and an Authorised GMSV Dealer is not available to provide such service at the time?

Subject to your statutory rights, if, in an emergency, a repair, replacement or adjustment (covered by the GMSV Warranty) is required to enable your vehicle to be operated safely and it is not practical for you to go to an Authorised GMSV Dealer, the service (to the extent that it is necessary to enable your vehicle to be operated safely) may be performed by any other qualified mechanic or repairer. 
 
A claim for the reasonable cost may be made under the GMSV Warranty through the Authorised GMSV Dealer who would normally provide you with GMSV Warranty service. You must also take your vehicle to the Authorised GMSV Dealer for inspection of the service and / or completion of any required GMSV Warranty service, as soon as possible. 

Note: During normal business hours, you should seek authorisation from your nearest Authorised GMSV Dealer or GMSV Customer Care, prior to repairs under your GMSV Warranty being commenced. 

Is damage or injury, loss of time, inconvenience, commercial or other direct or indirect loss covered by the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty?

No, these items are not covered under the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty only covers the repair, replacement, or adjustment of those parts of your vehicle which are found to be defective in materials or workmanship. No other types of claims for compensation of any kind, even if the same resulted from a consequence of a defect in materials or workmanship in your vehicle, will be recognised under the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. 


You may also have rights under your non-excludable statutory rights to claim compensation or other remedies outside of the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. 

Will I have to pay for maintenance costs during the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty Period?

Maintenance costs are not covered by the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty.  

Refer to your GMSV Service guide for all maintenance items. 

Will I have to pay for any costs or expenses in connection with the provision of GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty service?

All parts and labour used in carrying out GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. service at the premises of the servicing GMSV Dealer, are free of charge. 

Whenever GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty service is to be carried out by the servicing GMSV Dealer it is your responsibility to delivery your vehicle to the servicing GMSV Dealer’s premises. 

If, as a result of a defect which is covered by the GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty, your vehicle cannot be driven safely and you arrange for the nearest Authorised GMSV Dealer to carry out the required GMSV Warranty service, GMSV will accept reasonable towing costs to move your vehicle to the nearest qualified repairer's premises.

Before employing a towing company, contact the nearest GMSV Dealer, GMSV Roadside Assistance Service or GMSV Customer Care to obtain guidance. 

Would my vehicle’s engine benefit from fuel additives, oil additives or coolant additives not marketed by GMSV?

Your GMSV is engineered to perform at its optimum using GMSV recommended lubricants and fluids. The use of Supplemental additives is not recommended as their use not only increases operating costs but may be harmful to your vehicle. 

Any negative impact or consequences due to the use of additives may affect the validity of your GMSV Chevrolet Silverado 5 Year Warranty. Only the fluids and lubricants referred to in the Service guide should be used.
